Dargaz Village, Hormozgan Province

The village of Dargaz in Hormozgan Province, with 298 households and a population of 926, is located in Siyahu Rural District, in the Central District of Bandar Abbas County, 90 kilometers north of the city. Dargaz lies in a mountainous region at the foothills of Mount Faraghan (locally called Bohneh), the tallest mountain in Hormozgan Province and part of the Zagros mountain range. The village borders the villages of Zakin, Siyahu, Khorsin, and Chahkol. The people of Dargaz are engaged in orchard farming, with most of their orchards dedicated to tangerines. The tangerines produced here are among the finest in Iran and are highly demanded in the market, with most of the region’s harvest being sold in Tehran. Among the most notable attractions of this village are the salt cave and salt stalactites, Gholaman spring, the Shah Velayat pilgrimage site, the Talsoru qanat, and the beautiful tangerine orchards. These locations attract many visitors throughout the year, especially during winter, which is the tangerine harvest season. Due to its scenic mountain views and proximity to high peaks, the village is also a suitable destination for hikers, mountaineers, and nature enthusiasts. Various trees and medicinal plants grow in the surrounding mountains, including wild pistachio, wild almond, wild cherry (locally called Razouk), juniper (locally called Hors), fig trees, and medicinal herbs such as thyme, moor, and others.
